HOBBS, N.M. – The Texas A&M University–Texarkana women's soccer team battled through a 16-hour weather delay to finish their regular-season road contest against the University of the Southwest on Friday morning, earning a commanding 3-0 victory.
The Eagles originally took the pitch Thursday afternoon before severe weather halted play midway through the second half. When action resumed Friday morning, TAMUT wasted no time closing things out, controlling possession and finishing strong on both ends of the field.
Alexia Lara opened the scoring in the 31st minute before Desiree Narvaez netted back-to-back goals in the second half — including one assisted by Ava Axtle — to put the game out of reach.
TAMUT outshot the Mustangs 24–6, and Layla Anaya secured her third shutout of the season with four saves in goal.
With the win, the Eagles improve to 9-4-2 overall and 4-3-1 in RRAC play as they wrap up their regular-season road slate. The team faces a quick turnaround as they return home to host Texas College on Saturday, October 25, at 5:00 p.m. on Judy Kelley Morgan Field.
