ALEXANDRIA, La. – The Texas A&M University–Texarkana women's soccer team hit the road on Saturday afternoon to take on LSU Alexandria in a tough Red River Athletic Conference matchup. Despite controlling much of the tempo and striking first late in the second half, the Eagles were unable to hold off a late push from the Generals, falling 2–1.
The first half saw both teams trade chances in a physical battle, with the Eagles posting four shots to the Generals' two. Both goalkeepers held strong, sending the match into halftime scoreless.
TAMUT broke through in the 75th minute when Desiree Narvaez found the back of the net for her 14th goal of the season, finishing a well-placed cross from Lillian Miller to give the Eagles a 1–0 lead.
LSUA quickly responded, leveling the score just five minutes later before finding the game-winner in the 84th minute to pull ahead 2–1.
The Eagles outshot the Generals 9–7 on the day and earned five corner kicks to LSUA's seven. In goal, Layla Anaya tallied three saves for TAMUT, while the Generals' keeper recorded two.
With the result, the Eagles move to 8–3–2 overall and 3–2–1 in RRAC play. Women's Soccer will look to bounce back at home next Thursday, October 16 as they take on the Wildcats from Louisiana Christian University. Kickoff is set for 5:00 p.m. at Judy Kelley Morgan Field.
