METAIRIE, La. – The Texas A&M University–Texarkana women's soccer team fell 2-0 on the road Thursday afternoon to Xavier University of Louisiana in a competitive Red River Athletic Conference matchup at Lafreniere Park.
The Gold Nuggets jumped ahead early, scoring in the 27th and 38th minutes to take a 2-0 lead into halftime. Despite a strong second half from the Eagles that featured six shots and several close chances, the Xavier defense held steady to maintain the clean sheet.
Lillian Miller and Desiree Narvaez led the Eagle attack with a combined three shots on goal, while goalkeeper Layla Anaya tallied seven saves against nine shots on frame from the Gold Nuggets.
Texas A&M–Texarkana moves to 8-2-2 overall and 3-1-1 in conference play. The Eagles will look to bounce back on Saturday, October 11, when they take on the Generals of LSUA. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. in Alexandria, La.
