A&M-Texarkana's women's soccer team overwhelmed host Williams Baptist University on Tuesday, putting more than 40 shots in the air during a 9-0 blowout victory that included nine goals by nine different players.
WALNUT RIDGE, Arkansas — A&M-Texarkana's women's soccer team overwhelmed host Williams Baptist University on Tuesday, putting more than 40 shots in the air during a 9-0 blowout victory that included nine goals by nine different players.
The Eagles (2-0-0) saw their first official playing time after their opener was declared a forfeit victory Saturday. This time, all the shots and goals counted. TAMUT scored the opening goal just 2:25 into the match and added two more in the final three minutes of the half for a 3-0 lead at the break.
Their next four goals all came within a span of 10 minutes in the second half and the last two were tallied just three minutes apart. Williams Baptist (0-3-0) did not record a single shot during the contest.
TEAM EFFORT
A total of 22 Eagles saw the pitch during Tuesday's match, but that did not include All-Conference returnee Alyssa Daily. 19 different players attempted at least one shot against WBU. The Eagles scored five unassisted goals.
GOALS BY ALL
Brooklyn Lattier scored first, followed by Delani Chappell and Judith Lopez in the first half. Desiree Narvaez, Shannon Meyer, Alicia Loera, Johanna Rodriguez, Abigail McGuire, and Genesis Fu found the net during the second half. Assists were credited to Meyer and Rodriguez, as well as Dulce Memije and Emily Navarrete.
CLEAN SHEET
The Eagle defense was not challenged during the contest and Camryn Waibel recorded the win in goal for TAMUT.
NEXT UP
The women's team will have a Sunday afternoon contest at Wiley College at 3 pm in Marshall. Wiley (0-2-0) has been outscored 15-0 in its two matches, including a 12-0 loss at SAGU on Aug. 25.
