Herz Claims RRAC Defender of the Week Recognition
WACO, Texas – Taylor Parker of Xavier University (La.) earned recognition as the RRAC Volleyball Attacker of the Week for Sept. 1-7. Xavier's Charity Metcalf was named RRAC Setter of the Week, and Lauren Herz of Texas A&M University-Texarkana was selected as the RRAC Defender of the Week for the same dates.
RRAC Attacker of the Week – Taylor Parker, Xavier
Parker hit .563 in four matches (64 attacks) at the Rams Fall Classic in Austin, Texas. The junior middle blocker from Charlotte, N.C., hit a career-best .765 with 14 kills and one error on 17 attacks in a three-set victory over Paul Quinn College (Texas). Parker averaged 3.3 kills per set. Xavier is now 9-3 on the season.
RRAC Setter of the Week – Charity Metcalf, Xavier
Metcalf led Xavier's two-setter system with 81 assists in four matches at the Rams Fall Classic. The senior setter from Greenville, S.C., posted a season-high 14 digs in three sets against Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College (Ind.). Feeding off of Metcalf's assists, Xavier produced a .315 hitting percentage in the tournament.
RRAC Defender of the Week – Lauren Herz, A&M-Texarkana
Herz scooped 69 digs in a 2-1 week at the Evangel University (Mo.) Quad. The junior libero from Mapleton, Ill., averaged 5.7 digs per set, and she recorded 29 digs in a five-set loss to Evangel. TAMUT climbed to 12-3 overall.
