Three Eagles Named to the 2024 AVCA NAIA Southcentral All-Region Team
TEXARKANA, Texas – The American Volleyball Coaches Association released their 2024 AVCA NAIA All-Region Teams and Awards Winners yesterday afternoon.
Each of the 10 regions named 14 student-athletes to the All-Region team, and eight players earned honorable mention honors. Additionally, a Player of the Year, Freshman of the Year, Coach of the Year, and Assistant Coach of the Year were selected for each region.
This year's All-Region first-team or honorable mention players represent 118 different NAIA schools. Leading the way with four players each are Aquinas, Bellevue, Florida College, Indiana Wesleyan, Jamestown, The Master's, Missouri Baptist, Mobile, Providence, and Saint Thomas.
Three Eagles were named to this year's Southcentral All-Region team. Sophomore Kaitlyn Cabral and senior Ja'Kerra Holt were named to the Southcentral First Team All-Region, and Sophomore Mia Mata earned a South Central All-Region Honorable Mention.
This season, Cabral played in 31 matches, averaging 2.9 kills per set and 3.02 digs per set. Cabral would finish the season ranked fifth in the conference for kills, recording 299 on the season, averaging 2.9 kills per set, and eighth in the conference for digs with 311. She would also earn the RRAC Newcomer of the Year and RRAC Attacker of the Year as well as a First Team All-Conference recognition this season.
Holt played in 29 matches this season, averaging 2.45 kills per set and .86 blocks per set. Holt would finish third in the conference for highest hitting percentage with a .336 overall and would finish third in the conference for blocks per set with .86 with 83 total blocks this season. She would also earn an RRAC First Team All-Conference recognition for her second year in a row.
Mata played in 31 matches this season, averaging 3.28 digs per set. Mata would finish fourth in the conference for digs on the season with 341, and eighth in the conference for highest digs per set average with 3.28. She would also earn a First Team All-Conference recognition this season.
