Women's Track and Field Stacks PRs at Bryan Phillips Invitational
SEARCY, Ark. - The Texas A&M University–Texarkana women's track and field team turned in a strong showing at the Bryan Phillips Invitational in Searcy, Arkansas, competing against a talented field of NCAA and NAIA programs while posting multiple podium finishes and personal bests.
The Eagles saw success across both field and track events, highlighted by a runner-up finish in the high jump from Janiya Ross, who cleared 1.58 meters to tie for second place. On the track, Ja'Kouria Jamerson delivered a standout performance in the 400m hurdles, placing third with a personal-best time of 1:04.82, while Damaria Bell added a fourth-place finish in the 100m hurdles at 14.69.
J'Layah Spellman Collins paced the Eagles in the sprint events, earning a third-place finish in the 200m with a personal-best time of 25.10 and adding another top-10 finish in the 400m, placing ninth in 57.56, also a personal best.
In the field events, Teegan Roach led the way in the hammer throw with a 13th-place finish and a personal-best mark of 35.96 meters. Ava Ferreira followed closely in 14th (35.76m), while R'Naziah Johnson notched a personal best of her own at 30.55 meters. Johnson also impressed in the javelin, finishing ninth with another personal-best throw of 29.53 meters.
Adara Adesanya rounded out the field event performances with a personal-best mark of 10.81 meters in the shot put, placing 12th overall.
The Eagles continued to build momentum throughout the meet, as multiple athletes recorded new personal bests, showcasing the team's growth and competitiveness against a challenging field.
Texas A&M–Texarkana will return to action on April 17th at the Jim Mize Invitational, hosted by Louisiana Tech in Ruston, Louisiana.
