Women Open Season at Texas Wesleyan; Both Teams Compete at Marty Berryman Invitational
TEXARKANA, Texas – The Texas A&M University-Texarkana tennis program is set to begin its 2025 fall season with high expectations and fresh leadership. The women's team will kick off the campaign on September 5–6 at Texas Wesleyan University, while the men's squad begins their season a week later. Both teams will be in action September 12–13 at the prestigious Marty Berryman Invitational, hosted by Collin College.
The Eagles are coming off a strong 2024-25 season that saw multiple players earn national recognition. Andrew Otzenberger was ranked in the ITA Fall Singles rankings, while both Otzenberger and Emmanouela Besi earned Spring ITA Singles rankings. Otzenberger also teamed up with Mauricio Trevino to form a doubles pair that secured an ITA Spring ranking, showcasing the Eagles' depth and talent across the board.
Looking to build on last year's momentum, the Eagles begin a new chapter under first-year head coach Brian Nelson. Nelson joins the A&M-Texarkana athletic department from NCAA Division II Southeastern Oklahoma State, where he led the Savage Storm to consistent success in the competitive Great American Conference.
With a promising roster and a coach with a proven track record, the Eagles are poised for another successful season on the courts.
