The Eagles took on the Mustangs of University of the Southwest earlier this afternoon in a RRAC matchup. Women's Soccer would emerge victorious over the Mustangs with a score of 3-1.
The first half of play both teams would have opportunities to score but neither would be able to do so, going into the half the score was 0-0. The second half started off much like that of the first until Kenya Reynolds would launch one from outside the box off a block from Kristina Simpson and earn the first goal of the game for either team in the 72nd minute. In the 79th minute Kenya Reynolds would strike again off an assist from Delani Chappell making the score 2-0. The Mustangs would quickly find an answer as the time was running low with a goal of their own by Rylee Thatcher assisted by Maya Sanchez. The score now being 2-1 the Eagles wanted to put the game away and secure the second win of the day for TAMUT athletics during Homecoming, and Desiree Narvaez would do just that with a final goal for the Eagles in the 87th minute.
The Eagles move to 11-2-1 overall and 7-2-1 in conference play, and are currently in fourth place in conference standings. Women's Soccer will be back in action next Saturday at LSU-Shreveport, kickoff is set for 1:00pm.
