The Eagles fall to the Gold Nuggets of Xavier University this afternoon in a Red River Athletic Conference Matchup on Judy Kelley Morgan Field 1-0, which is the first loss of the season for the Eagles.
Today marked a special day for TAMUT Athletics as it was the 10th Anniversary of sports at Texas A&M-Texarkana but even more so for the Women's Soccer program, as today marked the exact date of their first match 10 years ago. Many notable women's soccer alumni were able to be in attendance for today's matchup including;
Tinotenda Charuma (2020), Xiana Pang-Abas (2022), Sam Shapnack-Isom (2018), Ellie Kemins (2018), Hanna Williams (2018), Fallon Keller (2017).
Both Xavier and A&M-Texarkana were undefeated in conference play going into today's matchup. The Gold Nuggets would take the lead in the 26th minute and would be able to hold the Eagles scoreless, which resulted in the first loss of the season for the Eagles and would give the Gold Nuggets sole possession of the 1st place seat in the RRAC. The Eagles would produce many opportunities to try and tie the game but were unable to find the back of the net.
The Eagles fall to 4th place in the RRAC after today's game with a conference record of 5-1-0. Women's soccer will be back in action next Thursday as they travel to Pineville, Louisiana to take on the Wildcats of Louisiana Christian, kickoff is set for 5:00pm.
