ALEXANDRIA, La. – The Texas A&M University–Texarkana women's basketball team saw its conference tournament run end Friday afternoon with a 71–62 loss to Texas A&M University–San Antonio in the semifinals of the Red River Athletic Conference Tournament at Laborde Earles Coliseum.
The Eagles kept the game close early, matching the Jaguars basket for basket in the opening quarter. TAMUSA gained momentum in the second period, taking a 36–24 lead into halftime after capitalizing at the free-throw line and forcing turnovers.
TAMUT responded with a strong third quarter, outscoring the Jaguars 17–13 to pull within single digits. The Eagles continued to battle in the fourth, but TAMUSA's efficiency at the line proved to be the difference, as the Jaguars finished 26-of-30 from the free-throw stripe.
Breyionce George led TAMUT with 14 points and six rebounds, anchoring the Eagles on both ends of the floor. Chi'onne Dailey added 12 points and Imani Rothschild added six rebounds and 7 assists. While the Eagles held a 36–22 edge in points in the paint. TAMUT also forced 29 turnovers, but was unable to overcome TAMUSA's late-game execution.
The semifinal loss concludes the season for the Eagles after a resilient postseason showing and a strong overall campaign.
