Women’s Basketball Takes Down OLLU Behind Balanced Team Effort
SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The Texas A&M University–Texarkana women's basketball team earned an 80–70 conference road victory over Our Lady of the Lake University on Thursday night.
In a back-and-forth battle featuring 10 ties and 11 lead changes, the Eagles delivered in the closing minutes, making key plays down the stretch to secure the 10-point win.
TAMUT shot 41.5 percent from the field and went 23-of-30 (76.7%) from the free-throw line, consistently capitalizing at the stripe. The Eagles also forced 27 turnovers and converted those opportunities into 34 points — a decisive factor in the contest.
Maiya Petit led TAMUT with 14 points, while Eleionna Brown and Unique McBride each added 11. Breyionce George pulled down a game-high six rebounds, and Chi'onne Dailey dished out four assists. The Eagles' bench made a major impact as well, contributing 40 points in the victory.
TAMUT tallied 27 fast-break points and 16 second-chance points, turning defensive stops and extra possessions into offense. Despite being outrebounded 38–34, the Eagles controlled the turnover margin (27–11) and came up with timely defensive stops late to seal the win.
With the victory, Texas A&M–Texarkana moves closer to the end of the regular season. The Eagles will wrap up regular-season play on Saturday, Feb. 21, traveling to Texas A&M University–San Antonio for a 1 p.m. tipoff.
