Women’s Basketball Opens 2026 with Loss to (RV) LSU Shreveport
TEXARKANA, Texas – The Texas A&M University–Texarkana women's basketball team opened the 2026 portion of its schedule Saturday afternoon, falling 90–58 to nationally ranked LSU Shreveport inside the Patterson Student Center in Red River Athletic Conference action.
The Eagles came out with energy but were unable to keep pace with the Pilots' efficient offense, as LSU Shreveport shot 54 percent from the field and connected on 13 three-pointers. TAMUT trailed by just three after the opening quarter, 22–19, before the visitors used a 27-point second quarter to build separation heading into halftime.
LSU Shreveport maintained the pressure after the break, limiting the Eagles to 22 second-half points while capitalizing on turnovers and second-chance opportunities. TAMUT battled on the glass throughout the contest, finishing with a narrow 35–34 rebounding edge, including 14 offensive rebounds that helped generate extra possessions.
Chi'onne Dailey paced the Eagles with a team-high 15 points, adding five rebounds and four steals. Breyionce George chipped in nine points and five rebounds, while Imani Rothschild filled the stat sheet with seven points, four assists, and a team-best four steals. Chioma Treasure Emeh contributed six points and six rebounds to round out TAMUT's top performers.
Despite the setback, the Eagles showed resilience against the conference's top-ranked team and will look to regroup as RRAC play continues.
Women's Basketball will return to action Thursday, January 8, traveling to Stafford, Texas, for a conference matchup at North American University. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
