Women's Basketball Pulls Away in Second Half to Defeat UNT Dallas, 81–69
TEXARKANA, Texas – The Texas A&M University–Texarkana women's basketball team continued its strong play at home Thursday evening, defeating UNT Dallas 81–69 inside the Patterson Student Center to secure another Red River Athletic Conference victory.
After a tight opening quarter, the Eagles seized control in the second period, outscoring the Trailblazers 24–14 to take a halftime lead they would not relinquish. TAMUT built momentum coming out of the break, erupting for 26 points in the third quarter to create separation and put the game firmly in the Eagles' favor.
Breyionce George led the way offensively, finishing with a team-high 18 points while adding nine rebounds and three assists. Nailah Zetrenne provided an efficient scoring spark, shooting 5-of-7 from the floor for 12 points, while Maiya Petit chipped in 10 points and four rebounds. Imani Rothschild filled the stat sheet with nine rebounds, five assists, and five steals, helping anchor the Eagles' defensive effort.
Texas A&M–Texarkana dominated the paint throughout the contest, scoring 50 points inside and capitalizing on second-chance opportunities. The Eagles also received strong production from the bench, which combined for 28 points to maintain pressure across all four quarters.
With the win, TAMUT improved to 6–5 overall and 5–1 in conference play, continuing to build momentum as RRAC action rolls on.
The Eagles return to action on Saturday, December 20, for their final contest of 2025, hosting the University of the Southwest inside the Patterson Student Center. Tip-off for the women's game is scheduled for 1 p.m.
