Women's Basketball Holds Off LSUA for Gritty Road Win
ALEXANDRIA, La. – The Texas A&M University–Texarkana women's basketball team held off a late surge to earn a hard-fought 76–74 road victory over LSU Alexandria, Saturday afternoon at The Fort.
The Eagles set the tone early, opening the contest with strong defensive energy and efficient offense to take an 18–15 lead after the first quarter. TAMUT continued to battle in the second period, carrying a narrow 30–28 advantage into halftime.
Both teams traded momentum throughout the second half, as LSU Alexandria matched the Eagles point-for-point in the third quarter. TAMUT responded in the final frame with its most productive offensive stretch of the afternoon, scoring 26 points in the fourth quarter to maintain a slim edge down the stretch.
Breyionce George led the Eagles with an efficient performance, finishing with 20 points on 8-of-12 shooting while adding five rebounds. Eleionna Brown contributed a strong all-around outing with 13 points and six rebounds, while Maiya Petit added eight points and three boards.
Off the bench, TAMUT received key production from Unique McBride, who scored nine points, and Chioma Treasure Emeh, who added seven points and four steals. The Eagles finished the day with a 46–38 advantage in points in the paint and forced 24 turnovers, converting them into 27 points.
With the win, the Eagles improve to 5–5 overall and 4–1 in Red River Athletic Conference play. Women's Basketball will return home on Thursday, December 18, hosting a conference doubleheader in the Patterson Student Center. Tipoff for the women is set for 5:30 p.m
