Women's Basketball Comes Up Just Short Against NCAA DII Henderson State
ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The Texas A&M University–Texarkana women's basketball team came up just short Friday evening, falling 85–81 to NCAA Division II Henderson State at the Duke Wells Center. The Eagles moved to 0–3 on the season.
After trailing 25–15 at the end of the first quarter, TAMUT responded with a 24–11 second quarter to take a 39–36 lead into halftime. Henderson State regained momentum with a 32-point fourth quarter, and despite A&M-Texarkana shooting 54.5% in the final period, the Reddies maintained a narrow advantage in the closing minutes.
Eleionna Brown led TAMUT with 25 points on 9-of-13 shooting, adding six rebounds.
Chioma Treasure Emeh and Breyionce George each finished with 12 points, combining to go 12-for-16 from the free-throw line.
Imani Rothschild recorded nine points with three made three-pointers, and Evelyn Terraza Alcántar added six points, three rebounds, three assists, and three steals.
Off the bench, Ty'Shelle Harris contributed seven points, including two first-half three-pointers.
The Eagles shot 44.1% from the field and 45% from three, while Henderson State finished at 40.7% overall and 48.3% from beyond the arc.
A&M–Texarkana will return to the floor on Thursday, November 20, traveling to LSU Shreveport to open Red River Athletic Conference play. The women's game is set for 5 p.m.
