Women's Basketball Falls to No. 11 Langston in Gritty Home Contest
TEXARKANA, Texas – The Texas A&M University–Texarkana women's basketball team battled hard against one of the nation's top programs Tuesday evening, falling 59–44 to No. 11-ranked Langston University Lions at the Patterson Student Center.
The Eagles kept pace early, trailing just 14–11 after the first quarter and continuing to challenge the Lions' speed and defensive pressure through the first half. Despite Langston's late first-half surge to take a 33–24 lead at the break, A&M–Texarkana showed resilience on both ends, holding the Lions to just 10 third-quarter points before Langston closed strong in the final frame.
Senior guard Breyionce George led the Eagles with 11 points, while Chioma Treasure Emeh and Imani Rothschild each added eight. Emeh was active on the boards, grabbing six rebounds and tallying four steals, while Rothschild connected on two three-pointers and contributed three assists. Eleionna Brown provided key minutes off the bench, chipping in seven points, and Maiya Petit added five.
Defensively, the Eagles forced 19 Langston turnovers and collected 12 steals, continuing to show the tenacity that has defined their early-season play.
With the loss, A&M–Texarkana moves to 0–3 on the season. The Eagles will be back in action on Friday, November 14, as they travel to Arkadelphia, Arkansas, to take on NCAA Division II opponent Henderson State University. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
