TYLER, Texas – The Texas A&M University-Texarkana women's basketball team secured a gritty 62-58 road win over Texas College on Saturday.
The Steers held a narrow lead at the end of the first quarter, but a strong second-quarter performance propelled the Eagles to a 34-27 advantage at halftime. Texas College responded with an 18-point third quarter, cutting the Eagles' lead to a single possession heading into the final frame.
In the closing seconds, TAMUT held a slim advantage before clutch free throws from Chi'onne Dailey extended the lead to four with less than 10 seconds remaining. The Steers were unable to close the gap, sealing the Eagles' victory.
Dailey led the Eagles with 18 points on 50% shooting, while Delfina Misiuna and Chioma Treasure Emeh added 10 points each. Kayla Williams grabbed a team-high eight rebounds, while Evelyn Terraza Alcantar and Dailey dished out four assists apiece.
