Softball Finishes Season Ranked No. 25 in NAIA Coaches' Postseason Poll
TEXARKANA, Texas — The Texas A&M University–Texarkana softball team concluded an impressive 2026 season ranked No. 25 in the final NAIA Softball Coaches' Postseason Poll, earning national recognition after a second consecutive impactful year for the program.
The Eagles finished the year with a 38-16 overall record and a 21-5 mark in Red River Athletic Conference play. TAMUT spent much of the season among the nation's top teams, climbing as high as No. 19 in the national rankings before closing the year inside the Top 25.
Texas A&M–Texarkana's postseason journey began at the Red River Athletic Conference Championships, where the Eagles advanced to the semifinal round before falling to eventual tournament champion Our Lady of the Lake University in an elimination game.
Following their conference tournament appearance, the Eagles earned an at-large bid to the NAIA National Championship Opening Round, traveling to Ashland, Oregon, for the Ashland Bracket hosted by defending NAIA National Champion Southern Oregon University. TAMUT opened the tournament with a victory over the University of Saint Francis (Ind.) before dropping contests to host Southern Oregon and Dordt University (Iowa), finishing the Opening Round with a 1-2 record.
Throughout the season, the Eagles established themselves as one of the nation's most complete teams. Defensively, TAMUT led the NAIA in runners caught stealing percentage, with catchers Skyler Martin and Jacqueline Hernandez anchoring one of the country's most effective defensive units.
The Eagles' success was reflected in postseason honors as nine student-athletes earned All-RRAC recognition, highlighting the depth and talent that fueled the program's run to 38 victories.
Finishing the season ranked No. 25 nationally serves as another milestone for the Texas A&M–Texarkana softball program. With a conference championship appearance, a return to the NAIA National Championship Opening Round, and a place among the nation's top 25 teams, the Eagles capped off a memorable season while continuing to elevate the standard of excellence for TAMUT softball.
