VICTORIA, Texas — The Texas A&M University–Texarkana softball team secured a key RRAC series victory on the road, taking two of three matchups against A&M–Victoria.
The Eagles opened the series with a hard-fought extra-inning win, outlasting the Jaguars 5-3 in eight innings. After battling back from a 3-3 tie, A&M-Texarkana delivered in the eighth as Madison Ruiz drove in the go-ahead run and Victoria Clayton added an insurance RBI. Brooke Usrey led the offense with a 2-for-4 performance, including a home run, while Charli Miller earned the win in relief with three shutout innings.
A&M–Texarkana dropped the second game of the series 5-2 despite collecting eight hits. Brooke Usrey and Madison Ruiz each recorded two hits, with Ruiz adding an RBI triple late in the contest. The Jaguars capitalized on early opportunities and added insurance runs in the fifth to even the series.
The Eagles responded in the series finale with a dominant 3-0 shutout performance. Rylee Glenn was outstanding in the circle, tossing a complete-game four-hit shutout while striking out six. Offensively, TAMUT broke through in the fourth inning, highlighted by an RBI double from Kylie Malone and an RBI single from Kamryn Walker to secure the win.
As a team, the Eagles combined timely hitting and strong pitching throughout the series, outscoring the Jaguars 10-8 across their two wins.
Texas A&M–Texarkana will return to action on April 7th, traveling to face NCAA Division II Henderson State in a non-conference doubleheader. First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m.
