TEXARKANA, Texas – The Texas A&M University–Texarkana softball team delivered a dominant performance in conference play, taking two games on the field and earning a series sweep after Texas College forfeited the final contest at Bramlett Field.
The Eagles controlled the series from the start, opening with a 5-0 shutout victory in game one. Behind a strong pitching effort from Rylee Glenn, who improved to 11-1 on the season, TAMUT limited Texas College to just three hits while striking out six across five innings.
Morgan Benge closed out the final two innings to secure the shutout.
Offensively, the Eagles struck early with a four-run second inning and never looked back. Presley Humphrey led the way with a two-run home run, while Mackenzie Williams added a perfect 2-for-2 performance at the plate with a run scored and two stolen bases. Victoria Clayton also chipped in with two hits as TAMUT totaled five runs on five hits.
Game two saw the Eagles continue their momentum with an 8-0 run-rule victory in five innings. TAMUT once again set the tone early, plating five runs in the first two innings before adding three more in the fifth.
Victoria Clayton paced the offense with a 2-for-3 outing and two RBIs, while Jaqueline Hernandez added a pair of RBIs of her own. Kylie Malone provided a spark at the top of the lineup, going 2-for-3 with two runs scored.
In the circle, Alexis Snyder earned the win after allowing just one hit over four shutout innings, striking out four. Sarah Phillips closed the game with a scoreless inning, striking out two.
Texas College later forfeited the final game of the series, giving the Eagles the three-game conference sweep.
With the series win, TAMUT continues to build momentum in conference play as the Eagles prepare for a challenging stretch against top-tier competition.
