Softball Slated 2nd in RRAC Preseason Poll
TEXARKANA, Texas – The Texas A&M University–Texarkana softball team was picked to finish second in the Red River Athletic Conference Preseason Coaches Poll, released yesterday afternoon. The Eagles edged defending conference champion Our Lady of the Lake by a single point in the poll, a testament to the respect TAMUT earned following its standout performance last season. Despite the second-place selection, the Eagles did not receive any first-place votes—nine went to LSU Alexandria and one to OLLU—adding extra motivation as TAMUT looks to prove it belongs at the top of the conference in 2026.
The Eagles return to the diamond after an impressive 2025 campaign that saw them post a 24–4 record in conference play, with their only RRAC losses coming against LSU Alexandria and Our Lady of the Lake. TAMUT was one of four conference programs to qualify for the NAIA National Championship Opening Round and advanced to the site final, where its postseason run came to an end in an extra-inning battle against the University of the Cumberlands.
With a proven core returning and expectations running high, the Eagles enter the new season focused on building off last year's success and turning preseason respect into postseason results. TAMUT will look to use the poll as motivation as it sets its sights on competing for an RRAC title and making another deep run on the national stage.
Preseason poll voting was submitted by each head coach. The results, shown below, are based on points calculated with an 11-10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 format. First-place votes are indicated in parentheses.
