Bio

Haley Colwell enters her first season as Recruiting Coordinator and Assistant Softball Coach at Texas A&M University–Texarkana, bringing a proven track record of player development, program building, and leadership. Known for her ability to elevate athletes and teams alike, her career is marked by vision, growth, and results.

Most recently, Colwell served as Head Softball Coach at Northeast Texas Community College, where she revitalized the program on and off the field. Under her leadership, the team GPA rose from 2.57 to 3.43, the program graduated its largest recruiting class in history to the next level, and her players earned multiple Academic All-Conference honors along with two Second Team All-Conference selections.

Before her time at NTCC, Colwell made her mark at several Texas high schools, including Tioga, Whitesboro, and El Campo. She guided teams to playoff appearances in their inaugural seasons, contributed to a volleyball team’s 1A state championship, and secured multiple district titles and deep postseason runs. At El Campo, she also served as Girls Strength & Conditioning Coordinator, leading the Ladybirds softball team to a District 24-4A championship and a regional semifinal appearance in her first year—the program’s first regional showing in 22 years.

Colwell’s influence extends beyond the field. At TAMUT, she is also a Kinesiology Lecturer, teaching courses in Biomechanics and Sports Performance. She has coached in the Coastal Plains Baseball League as a Player Development and Sports Performance Coach and currently leads USA Softball’s Team Texas 14U All-American Games. A respected voice in the coaching community, she has presented at national conventions including THSCA, NHSSCA, and ABCA, served as a Brand Ambassador for the Texas High School Coaches Association, and was selected for the prestigious ROCK Mentorship Program in 2021.

As a player, Colwell was an All-State shortstop and multi-sport standout for the S&S Lady Rams. She began her collegiate career at North Central Texas College before transferring to Texas Woman’s University, where she helped the Pioneers capture a Conference Championship and reach the NCAA Division II Women’s College World Series for the first time in program history. She still holds TWU records for RBIs and grand slams in a single game. Later, she joined her head coach in helping launch the inaugural NCAA Division I program at Texas A&M University–Commerce.

Colwell earned a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from Texas Woman’s University and a Master of Science in Athletic Administration from Texas A&M University–Commerce. Away from the field, she enjoys reading, jeep rides with her dog Maverick, and spending time outdoors.

Coach Colwell is eager to join Coach McKnight and the Eagles’ staff, building on the program’s national tournament success and helping take TAMUT softball to even greater heights.
