Men's Track and Field Finishes 3rd at RRAC Championships
NEW ORLEANS, La. - The Texas A&M University–Texarkana men's track & field team placed third with 142 points at the Red River Athletic Conference Track and Field Championships, held at Tad Gormley Stadium in New Orleans.
The Eagles recorded three event wins on the weekend. Chapman White won the 5000m in 16:51.31 and added a runner-up finish in the 3000m (9:24.99, season best, NAIA #47) and a third-place finish in the 1500m (4:13.94, personal best). Darlington Onsarigo won the triple jump with a mark of 14.53m (NAIA #16). Giovani Jean-Pierre captured the 100m title in 10.67 (NAIA #56) and also placed seventh in the 200m with a personal-best time of 21.81 (NAIA #100).
Texas A&M–Texarkana added multiple All-Conference performances (top four). Jayden Erikewe finished second in both the 110m hurdles (14.73) and 400m hurdles (54.17). Desroy Jordan placed second in the 400m with a time of 47.29, meeting the NAIA "B" standard. In the field events, Maurice Williams placed second in the discus (39.58m) and third in the shot put (12.62m), while Kolton Lybrand finished third in the hammer throw (37.55m). Dexter Lockett added a fourth-place finish in the long jump (6.85m, NAIA #66), and the 4x100m relay team of Erikewe, Jean-Pierre, Jeffrey Legrand, and Jordan placed fourth in 41.63.
Jeffrey Legrand placed seventh in the 100m (10.78) and ninth in the 200m (21.91), while Glenn Parker finished sixth in the 400m (49.08) and 10th in the 200m with a personal-best 21.94. In the jumps, Wynell Winkfield placed fifth in the triple jump (13.83m) and sixth in the long jump (6.38m, personal best), while Senotchy Saint Jean finished sixth in the triple jump (13.24m, NAIA #98).
In the throwing events, Dorian Pruitt recorded a personal best in the discus (37.66m) to place fifth, added a fifth-place finish in the shot put (11.01m), and placed eighth in the javelin with a personal-best 33.09m. Lybrand also added points in the discus (7th, 33.71m) and shot put (6th, 10.83m). Distance runner Chris Avila placed seventh in the 3000m (9:54.62, personal best, NAIA #87), and Elyk Williams finished ninth in the 800m (2:06.20).
The Eagles totaled 142 points in the team standings to finish third overall at the conference meet.
