Men’s Track and Field Competes Strong at Bryan Phillips Invitational
SEARCY, Ark. - The Texas A&M University–Texarkana men's track and field team competed against a strong mix of NCAA and NAIA programs at the Bryan Phillips Invitational in Searcy, Arkansas, turning in solid performances across multiple events while continuing to build momentum during the outdoor season.
The Eagles found success in the field events, highlighted by a pair of top-10 finishes in the jumps. Wynell Winkfield led the way with a fifth-place finish in the triple jump (13.81m), while Senhotchy Saint Jean followed closely in sixth (12.98m). In the long jump, Dexter Lockett added another strong result, placing seventh with a mark of 6.57 meters.
In the throwing events, Maurice Williams paced the Eagles in the hammer throw with a 15th-place finish at 39.70 meters. Kolton Lybrand recorded a personal-best mark of 37.62 meters to place 17th, while Dorian Pruitt (35.56m) and Durrel Darden (34.47m, personal best) rounded out the group.
Lybrand and Pruitt also competed in the javelin, with both athletes turning in personal-best performances. Lybrand finished 18th with a throw of 32.84 meters, while Pruitt followed in 23rd at 26.18 meters.
On the track, Tramaine Johnson Jr. highlighted the Eagles' efforts with a personal-best time of 1:04.36 in the 400m hurdles. Christopher Avila added distance experience for TAMUT in the 1500m, crossing the line in 4:30.38.
The Eagles continued to show growth throughout the meet, with multiple personal bests and competitive finishes against a deep field.
Texas A&M–Texarkana will return to action on April 17th at the Jim Mize Invitational, hosted by Louisiana Tech in Ruston, Louisiana.
