Jordan’s Gold Headlines Track & Field at FasTrak Collegiate Invitational
HOUSTON, Texas- The Texas A&M University–Texarkana indoor track and field teams delivered a strong showing at the FasTrak College Invitational, recording multiple podium finishes and top-10 marks against a deep competitive field that ranged from NCAA Division I programs to NJCAA institutions.
On the track, Desroy Jordan headlined the meet with a first-place finish in the men's 400m, clocking a 47.96, a mark that currently ranks 12th in the NAIA Indoor national standings. Jordan also added a fourth-place finish in the men's 200m at 21.91. Teammate Giovani Jean-Pierre joined him on the 400m podium, placing third with a time of 48.85, while also securing sixth in the 200m at 22.02.
In the hurdles, Damaria Bell turned in an impressive performance in the women's 60m hurdles, qualifying fifth in prelims (9.42) before improving to a third-place finish in the finals with a time of 8.92. On the men's side, Jayden Erickewe advanced to the finals of the 60m hurdles after running 8.39 in prelims and placed sixth overall with an 8.42 finish.
Sprint performances continued with J'Layah Spellman Collins placing 14th in the women's 400m (1:00.57) and earning an 11th-place finish in the 200m (25.78). Bell also competed in the 200m, placing 19th (26.26), while Ja'Kouria Jamerson finished 58th (27.87).
In middle-distance action, Kayla Reeves led the women with a 14th-place finish in the mile (5:35.63) and followed it with a ninth-place showing in the 800m at 2:26.73.
In the field events, Ja'Kouria Jamerson and Janiya Ross each cleared 1.50m in the women's high jump, tying for eighth place. Ava Ferreira led the women's throws with a 17th-place mark of 11.84m in the weight throw.
On the men's side of the throws, Maurice Williams recorded two top-15 finishes, placing 11th in the weight throw (13.30m) and 11th in the shot put (12.71m). Kolton Lybrand finished 21st in the weight throw (10.83m), while Dorian Pruitt added an 18th-place finish in the shot put (10.49m).
As multiple Eagle athletes posted marks that are closing in on NAIA qualifying thresholds as the indoor season progresses, TAMUT will look to build on their momentum as they prepare for their next indoor meet of the season.
Track and Field will be back in action this coming Friday, February 13th at the Howie Ryan Invitational, hosted by the University of Houston.
