TEXARKANA, Texas – The Texas A&M University–Texarkana men's soccer team earned a decisive 4-0 shutout win over Texas College on Saturday afternoon at Judy Kelley Morgan Field.
The Eagles found their rhythm early, as Jose Medina Cervantes opened the scoring in the 19th minute off a pass from Real Eguaikhide. Less than ten minutes later, Diego Picano doubled the lead with an unassisted goal to send TAMUT into halftime ahead 2-0.
TAMUT continued to control the match after the break, with Kevin Hernandez slotting one home in the 48th minute off an assist from Oscar Mejia. Mark Garcia sealed the victory late in the 75th minute, finishing a feed from Stefano Cia to make it 4-0.
The Eagles fired 38 total shots compared to just 15 from the Steers, while goalkeepers CJ Jones and Jacob Whatley combined for five saves to secure the clean sheet.
With the win, TAMUT improves to 6-6-5 overall and 5-4-1 in RRAC play. The Eagles will return to Judy Kelley Morgan Field on Saturday, November 1, to face Jarvis Christian University for Senior Day in their final regular season matchup. Kickoff is slated for 3:30 p.m.
