HOBBS, N.M. – After Thursday's scheduled match was postponed due to weather, the Texas A&M University–Texarkana men's soccer team returned to the field Friday morning for their regular-season road contest against the University of the Southwest, falling 2-1 in a tightly contested RRAC matchup.
The Mustangs struck first with a goal in the 10th minute and added another shortly after halftime to go up 2-0. The Eagles rallied late as Diego Picano buried a goal in the 69th minute to cut the deficit, but TAMUT's comeback efforts came up just short.
The Eagles tallied seven shots, three on goal, while CJ Jones recorded two saves between the posts.
With the result, TAMUT moves to 5-6-5 overall and 4-4-1 in RRAC play. The Eagles will look to bounce back quickly as they return home to host Texas College on Saturday, October 25, at 7:30 p.m. on Judy Kelley Morgan Field.
