TEXARKANA, Texas – The Texas A&M University–Texarkana men's soccer team rallied from behind Thursday afternoon to earn a thrilling 2–1 comeback victory over defending Red River Athletic Conference Tournament Champion Louisiana Christian University at Judy Kelley Morgan Field.
After conceding a goal midway through the first half, the Eagles entered halftime trailing 1–0 but flipped the script in the closing minutes. Jose Narvaez provided the equalizer in the 83rd minute, capitalizing on a defensive miscue to bring TAMUT level. Just six minutes later, Jose Medina Cervantes delivered the game-winner in the 89th minute, slotting home a pass from Maleek Russell to complete the dramatic turnaround.
Goalkeeper David Yearwood was pivotal in the victory, recording five saves—including a crucial penalty kick stop in the first half that kept the Eagles within reach. His steady presence between the posts allowed TAMUT to stay composed and mount their late surge.
The Eagles outshot Louisiana Christian 17–12 overall, including a commanding 12–4 advantage in the second half, while earning six corner kicks to the Wildcats' nine.
With the win, A&M–Texarkana improves to 5–4–5 overall and 4–2–1 in Red River Athletic Conference play, extending their win streak in conference competition.
The Eagles will look to keep their momentum rolling on Saturday, October 18, when they host conference leader LSU Shreveport at 7:30 p.m. on Judy Kelley Morgan Field.
