ALEXANDRIA, La. – The Texas A&M University–Texarkana men's soccer team battled to a hard-fought 0–0 draw on the road Saturday afternoon against the Generals of LSU Alexandria in Red River Athletic Conference action.
The match was a physical and defensive showdown from start to finish, as both teams fought for control of the midfield and created limited scoring chances through the first half. The Eagles managed just one shot on goal before the break, while goalkeeper David Yearwood made three key saves to keep the Generals off the scoreboard.
In the second half, LSUA increased the pressure, firing 11 shots and earning 11 corner kicks, but the Eagles' back line held firm. Yearwood continued his strong play in net, finishing the match with five saves to record his third shutout of the season.
Damilare Origunloye and Diego Picano each registered a shot on goal for the Eagles, while Texarkana's defensive unit, led by Zachary Davalle and Favour Eze, kept the Generals' potent offense from breaking through.
With the result, the Eagles move to 4–4–5 overall and 3–2–1 in RRAC play, while LSUA remains unbeaten in conference competition.
The Eagles will return home next week as they host the Wildcats of Louisiana Christian University on Thursday, October 16. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Judy Kelley Morgan Field.
