Men's Soccer's season comes to close after a 2-1 loss to the Generals of LSU-Alexandria in the Quarterfinal of the RRAC Championship. The two teams would meet again on Generals Soccer Field, the Generals having taken the last game 1-0. Going into tournament play the Eagles were seeded 6th and the Generals were seeded 3rd.
The first half was a battle back and forth, both teams almost identical in every category. Leading to the Generals and Eagles to both be held scoreless going into the second half. The Generals would quickly put an end to the clear scoreboard within the opening minutes of the second half with a goal by Adam Sherwood assisted by Javier Moscardo. The Generals would maintain the lead until a yellow card was given inside the box off a corner kick allowing the Eagles to have a chance to even the score with a PK. Junior Diego Picano would give the Eagles a chance by burying the PK into the top right corner and evening out the score 1-1. The time was winding down, and both teams were prepared to continue play into overtime, however after a red card was given to the Eagles in the 88th minute forcing TAMUT to play down a man, the Generals took this advantage and capitalized. With 30 seconds left Pablo Dominguez de Leon would score the Generals final goal of the game. As the time would run out the Generals tallied their second victory over the Eagles this season.
The Eagles had a strong push toward the end of the season that earned them a spot in the conference tournament. Diego Picano was ranked in the top of the RRAC for goals scored in a season with 12 and with points scored in a season with 25. Sophomore goalie Seth Brown was also a RRAC leader in saves tallying 70 saves on the season.
The Eagles' season concludes with a final record of 7-9-3 overall and 5-7-2 in conference play.
