Eagles force OT before falling to LSU-Shreveport in RRAC quarterfinals

SHREVEPORT, La. — A&M-Texarkana pushed top-seed LSU-Shreveport to overtime Friday in the opening round of the RRAC Championships, but the hosts prevailed with a goal in the first OT period and advanced with a 1-0 victory.
The Eagles (9-9-1) were outshot 21-4 and had just one attempt on target but were able to deny the Pilots (14-4-1) despite facing 13 shots on goal. The Pilots attempted eight shots in the first half, 10 in the second, and three in overtime.
Jacob Mendez made eight saves in his final start in goal for TAMUT and had a clean sheet until Alex Charles scored an unassisted goal for LSU-S just 64 seconds into the first overtime period.
The Pilots advance to the semifinals next week while the Eagles' season comes to an end after posting the first winning regular season record in program history.
