Jaret Rojas scored his team-leading sixth and seventh goals of the season Saturday as A&M-Texarkana earned a much-needed conference win, beating LSU-Alexandria 2-1 at Morgan Field. The Eagles (6-7-0 overall, 4-4-0 RRAC) remain in the middle of the conference pack that includes five teams hovering at or within a half-game of .500 in conference play. The visiting Generals fell to 4-5-1 overall and 3-2-1 in league play.
Rojas scored just five minutes into the contest with an assist from Coastas Heckman, then notched what would be the game-winner 10 minutes later on a pass from Christian Gomez. The Generals got one back in the 22nd minute but neither team would break through again the rest of the way.
The Eagles had just four total shots and three on target while LSUA tallied 10 shots and five on target. Jacob Mendez made five saves for the Eagles in net. The assist from Gomez was his team-high sixth, while Heckman's assist was his second of the year. Rojas now has a team-high 18 points on seven goals and four assists.
A&M-Texarkana takes its final road trip next week to play at Paul Quinn on Thursday and Southwest on Saturday, and then finishes the regular season with three straight home dates.
