The A&M-Texarkana men's soccer club will be looking for more consistent results when they travel for two conference matches later this week. The Eagles (4-5-0 overall, 2-2-0 RRAC) will face North American (3-2-0, 2-1-0) on Thursday at 7 pm, then take on first-place Xavier (4-1-0, 3-0-0) on Saturday at 7:30 pm.
SERIES HISTORY
vs North American – The Mustangs lead the all-time series, 1-0. The only previous meeting took place last season, a 2-0 shutout win for North American at Morgan Field.
vs Xavier – This is the first-ever meeting between the schools as Xavier is competing in soccer this season for the first time.
THINGS TO KNOW
A&M-Texarkana – The Eagles are 0-5-0 when allowing more than one goal in a match and 2-3-0 on the road this season. Jaret Rojas is the team's leading point man, with five goals and four assists (14 points). Golden Eguaikhide is next with eight points while Christian Gomez and Diego Picano each have seven.
North American – All five NAU matches have resulted in a shutout, including 3-0 conference wins over Paul Quinn and Southwest, and most recently a 1-0 loss to Xavier. Henri Guzman (3G, 1A) is the leading scorer with seven points. Goalkeeper Ramiro Longoria has recorded two shutouts while allowing just one goal and stopping 11 shots.
Xavier – The Gold Rush have won four straight matches since opening their inaugural season with a loss. Xavier has not allowed a goal since a 3-2 win at Spring Hill on Sept. 6. Xavier is 2-0-0 at home and led in scoring by Gustavo Oliveira's nine points (4G, 1A). Breno Zanolla has three shutout wins in goal, has allowed just one goal all season and made 15 saves.
