The men's soccer program heads to San Antonio later this week to open its Red River Athletic Conference schedule and put behind the memories of a pair of tough losses in their most recent action. The Eagles (2-3-0) have dropped their last two matches – a 3-1 loss at No. 13 Bethel (Tenn.) and a 3-2 home defeat to Texas Wesleyan – and they'll go up against A&M-San Antonio on Thursday, then meet Our Lady of the Lake on Saturday with both matches scheduled for 3:30 pm.
OFFENSIVE IMPROVEMENT
The Eagles have already shown signs of significant improvement on the offensive side, where the team managed just 17 goals in 17 matches a season ago. They've already scored 16 goals in just five matches this fall. Ten different Eagles have scored at least one goal this season, led by Jaret Rojas (3), Golden Eguaikhide (2), Diego Picano (2), and Dillon Williams (2).
SCOUTING THE JAGUARS
With just two matches under their belt, A&M-San Antonio sports a record of 1-1-0 heading into Thursday's contest with a 5-0 loss to UT-Rio Grande Valley and a 2-0 win at SAGU last weekend. Jacob Olivares and Amir Simpson each had an unassisted goal for the Jags and Jesus Blanco made three saves in the shutout win.
SCOUTING THE SAINTS
OLLU (0-3-0) is still looking for its first win of the season after falling to Oklahoma City (2-0), Science and Arts (2-1) and Wayland Baptist (1-0). Scoring has been hard to come by as the Saints have just one goal in three matches with 14 shots on goal. Samuel Villegas has the lone goal for OLLU. Dominic Pena is 0-3 in the goal but has made 19 saves in three contests.
