A pair of second-half goals were not enough for the A&M-Texarkana Eagles on Monday, who fell to Texas Wesleyan by a 3-2 margin in a non-conference match at Morgan Field.
Diego Picano and Golden Eguaikhide found the back of the net in the second half for the Eagles (2-3-0), but by then the visiting Rams (3-2-2) had already built a 3-0 lead behind two first-half goals and a third tally just three minutes into the second.
Jaret Rojas and Eguaikhide assisted on Picano's goal in the 60th minute and Christian Gomez assisted Eguaikhide in the 64th minute. Picano and Gomez were each shown a yellow card during the match.
Seth Brown faced just four shots by the Rams but saw three of those get through. The Eagles outshot Wesleyan by a 14-9 margin. The goals for Picano and Eguaikhide were the second on the season for each player.
The Eagles are on the road for their next two matches and open conference play Thursday at A&M-San Antonio at 3:30 pm. They'll take on Our Lady of the Lake on Saturday, also at 3:30 pm.
