Texas A&M-Texarkana's men's soccer program kicks off its ninth season Saturday, with sights set on the first winning campaign in program history. The Eagles host Central Baptist College (Ark.) for a 6 pm match at Morgan Field.
The Eagles rallied to draw with NCAA DIII program East Texas Baptist in their first exhibition last week, then outscored Paris Junior College 3-2 on Tuesday during the final tune-up. The visiting Mustangs (1-0-0) posted a forfeit victory over Paul Quinn but will take the pitch for the first time when the teams meet Saturday in Texarkana.
HISTORY
The Eagles are 2-0-0 all-time against the Mustangs, winning 3-2 last season in Conway and 2-1 in overtime back in 2021. Last season, Dante Zavala scored an unassisted goal in the 71st minute to tie the match and Jose Fierro netted the winner in the 86th minute.
