Eagles head into ninth season, aim for first winning campaign
The A&M-Texarkana men’s soccer program will begin its ninth season next month, looking to do something it has yet to do since beginning play in 2016 – have a winning season. Last season was the closest the Eagles had come to posting a record with more wins than losses, finishing 6-8-3 overall with a 4-4-3 mark in conference play.

Although they missed the conference tournament for the second year in a row, the Eagles return an astounding 37 players from last season's team, which should bode well heading into the 2023 campaign.
After a seventh place finish a year ago, TAMUT will look to climb the table and return to the conference tournament with a ton of returning experience. All-Freshman Team selection Damilare Origunloye returns for a squad that managed just 17 goals in as many matches. Origunloye scored four of those.
The Eagles will play exhibition matches at East Texas Baptist University (Aug. 19) and at home against Paris Junior College (Aug. 22) and the season officially opens Aug. 26 when the Eagles host Central Baptist at Morgan Field.
The next three matches are away from Texarkana, at Williams Baptist, Wiley College, and Bethel (Tenn.) before returning home on Sept. 11 to face Texas Wesleyan. The Eagles are 0-11-1 all-time against the three road opponents. Conference play begins Sept. 14 with the Eagles facing TAMU-San Antonio and Our Lady of the Lake on the road.
The first conference home contests are slated against Huston-Tillotson (Sept. 21) and UH-Victoria (Sept. 23). Those are followed by road games against new RRAC members North American (Sept. 28) and the Eagles' first-ever meeting with Xavier (La.) on Sept. 30.
Home dates against Louisiana Christian (Oct. 5) and LSU-Alexandria (Oct. 7) open the month of October, then the team is back on the road at Paul Quinn (Oct. 12) and Southwest (NM) before ending the regular season with three straight home dates against LSU-Shreveport, Jarvis Christian, and Texas College.
The Eagles will again host the Red River Athletic Conference championship tournament, scheduled for Nov. 3-11 at Morgan Field. For the complete 2023 schedule, complete with dates, times, and locations, CLICK HERE.
