No. 15 LSU-Shreveport pulls away from Eagles in second half, 89-79

SHREVEPORT, Louisiana — After a neck-and-neck race to intermission, 15th-ranked LSU-Shreveport was able to pull away from A&M-Texarkana in Tuesday's second half and come out with an 89-79 win at The Dock in Shreveport.
The Eagles (7-17 overall, 5-13 RRAC) trailed by just two at halftime (44-42) but the host Pilots (18-6, 13-5) took advantage of a significant free throw advantage in the second half to pull out the win. LSUS attempted 23 free throws to just 10 for the Eagles in the second half, converting on 17 of the chances. Levelle Zeigler led the Eagles with 22 points on 9-of-16 shooting and added seven rebounds, three assists and a pair of steals. Justin Davis helped with 13 points and four rebounds, Raschard Greene chipped in 10 points and Justin Brown came off the bench to add 11 points.
Paul King led all scorers with 26 points to go with nine rebounds and eight assists while Jalen King added 14 points and eight boards, and Calvin Carpenter pumped in 16 points for the Pilots.
The game was close for a long time and featured nine ties and 19 lead changes. The Pilots led by as many as 15 with less than two minutes to play and the Eagles led by five a few minutes into the second half. TAMUT shot 53.3 percent (32-of-60) for the game but the Pilots finished with a +16 advantage in points from the charity stripe (23-7).
The Eagles are 0-3 on the current five-game road swing, which continues Thursday at North American University at 7:30 pm. TAMUT is two games out of the eighth spot in the RRAC while the Stallions (9-15, 8-10) are currently tied for sixth.
