Eagles unable to keep pace with North American, fall 70-66

A&M-Texarkana let a narrow lead slip away in the second half of Thursday's conference game at the Patterson Center, and North American University left town with a 70-66 win.
The Eagles (5-10, 3-6 RRAC) have lost three of their last four and have still been unable to put together consecutive wins. TAMUT led 30-29 at the intermission but was outscored 41-36 in the second half.
Justin Brown scored a game-high 27 points on 11-of-19 shooting before fouling out but was the only Eagle to reach double digits. Levelle Zeigler scored nine points but made just 2-of-16 shots while adding eight rebounds and four assists. Chris Coley had eight points and eight rebounds while Justin Davis also had eight points.
The Eagles shot 34.3 percent for the game (24-of-70) and 33.3 percent from long range (10-of-30). North American (7-9, 6-4 RRAC) shot 34.8 percent from the field (23-of-66) ad made just 10-of-38 from behind the arc (26.3 percent). Caleb Malik led the Stallions with 21 points.
TAMUT will host Xavier (La.) on Saturday at 4 pm.
