HOBBS, New Mexico — A&M-Texarkana struggled through a cold shooting performance Saturday, resulting in a 76-60 loss at Southwest.
The Eagles (4-8, 2-4 RRAC) shot just 39 percent from the floor (23-of-59) and 28 percent from behind the arc (5-of-18), managing just 22 points in the first half. They also made just 9-of-18 shots at the foul line.
Southwest (6-6, 3-4 RRAC) didn't shoot much better, making just 21-of-54 from the field (39 percent) but went to the free throw line an astounding 35 times and converted 26 times. Anthony Scott went 16-for-16 at the line and finished with a game-high 26 points despite hitting just 4-of-17 shots from the floor.
Jeff Norment led the Eagles with 18 points and nine rebounds, Justin Brown added 13 points and Levelle Zeigler had 10 points and five rebounds.
TAMUT will be home this week to host Texas College on Thursday and Jarvis Christian College on Saturday. Game times are scheduled for 7:30 and 4 pm, respectively at the Patterson Center.
