PANAMA CITY, Fla. — A&M-Texarkana finished its trip to Florida with a split of two games at the Battle of the Beach following Tuesday's 75-63 loss to Faulkner (Ala.) in Panama City. The Eagles (2-2) shot almost 60 percent from the field yesterday on the way to victory, but went cold in today's loss, hitting just 23-of-61 (38 percent) from the floor and 1-of-16 from behind the arc.
A first half of 33 percent shooting put the Eagles in a 39-30 hole at intermission and Faulkner (4-4) did enough to keep TAMUT from putting together any sort of second half rally. Faulkner finished shooting 41 percent from the floor and hit 24-of-31 free throws.
Christopher Coley was the lone Eagles to score in double figures with 14 points to go with six rebounds. Colby Rasberry had nine points and nine rebounds while Raschard Greene and Ajani Jamison each finished with eight points and four rebounds. Lavelle Zeigler scored a game-high 28 points in Monday's win over Loyola but was held to just six points Tuesday, although he dished out a game-high six assists.
The Eagles doubled up Faulkner with 40 points in the paint and had more scoring from its bench, but Faulker had five players score at least 10 points, led by Jayden Cooper's game-high 20 points.
TAMUT is back home Saturday for a non-conference game against Central Baptist (Ark.) at 3 pm and opens its Red River Athletic Conference schedule Thursday, Nov. 30 at home against Louisiana Christian.
