Jordan Collins Joins Eagles as Defensive Line Coach
TEXARKANA, Texas – Texas A&M University–Texarkana has named Jordan Collins as the inaugural defensive line coach for the football program, adding an experienced and proven developer of defensive talent as the Eagles continue to build their first-ever coaching staff.
Collins joins Texas A&M–Texarkana following a successful tenure at the University of Mary Hardin–Baylor, where he served as defensive ends coach beginning in 2024. Prior to his time with the Cru, Collins spent five seasons at East Texas Baptist University, where he helped transform the Tigers' defense into one of the top units in NCAA Division III.
At ETBU, Collins initially served as defensive line coach before being promoted to defensive coordinator for the 2023 season. Under his leadership, the Tigers' defense produced nine all-conference selections, including the American Southwest Conference Defensive Lineman of the Year. The unit was among the most disruptive in the country, recording 81 tackles for loss, 30 sacks, 12 interceptions, nine forced fumbles, six fumble recoveries, and six blocked kicks during the 2023 season.
Collins played a key role in developing multiple all-conference defensive linemen during his time at ETBU, including standout performances in 2022 when the defense led the nation in tackles for loss and ranked among the national leaders in sacks. His players consistently earned All-ASC honors while helping anchor a defense that ranked among the best in the conference.
Prior to ETBU, Collins spent one season at Albright College, where he served as defensive line coach and assistant strength and conditioning coach. He also gained NFL experience as a Bill Walsh Diversity Coaching Fellow with the Indianapolis Colts in 2022, working directly with the defensive staff during preseason camps and gaining valuable insight into coaching at the highest level.
A former collegiate player, Collins competed at both Cisco Junior College and the University of the Incarnate Word, where he helped lead the Cardinals to a Southland Conference championship and an appearance in the 2018 FCS Playoffs.
Collins earned his Bachelor's degree in Philosophy with a concentration in Pre-Law from Incarnate Word in 2018 and completed his Master's degree in Strategic Communications from ETBU in 2021.
He is the son of Byron and Verlinda Collins and has two siblings, Jared Williams and Janee' Collins.
