Luke Roth Named Inaugural Special Teams Coordinator
TEXARKANA, Texas- Texas A&M University–Texarkana has named Luke Roth as the special teams coordinator for the inaugural football team, adding a highly accomplished coach with a track record of developing elite special teams units as the Eagles prepare to take the field for the first time.
Coach Roth arrives from North Alabama, where he served as special teams coordinator beginning in 2022. During his time with the Lions, he helped guide multiple award-winning performances, including two United Athletic Conference Specialist of the Week honors and the development of Freshman All-American punter Adam Watford, who also earned All-UAC Second Team recognition.
Prior to North Alabama, Roth spent time at the University of Kansas, where he served as a senior special teams analyst and provided critical support in game planning, scouting, and film breakdown. During the 2020 season, Roth stepped into the role of special teams coordinator for a game against West Virginia, helping engineer a kickoff return touchdown—Kansas' first since 2016.
Roth also gained valuable experience at Western Kentucky, where he worked in special teams quality control. There, he contributed to the development of standout performers, including a two-time Conference USA Special Teams Player of the Week and a first-team all-conference punter who ranked among the nation's best in punting average.
Before his time at the FBS level, Roth spent seven seasons at Bethel University (Tenn.), where he served as Assistant Head Coach and Special Teams Coordinator. In addition to leading all six special teams units, he coached multiple positions and helped guide the program to sustained success, developing numerous all-conference specialists and All-Americans. During his tenure, his units produced multiple first-team all-conference honors and were known for their consistency and playmaking ability.
Across his coaching career, Roth's special teams units have accounted for 32 special teams touchdowns and have developed eight all-conference players along with three All-Americans, underscoring his ability to produce game-changing results.
Roth earned his bachelor's degree in Business Administration in 2010 and his master's degree in Education in 2013, both from Bethel University.
He and his wife, Kimberlee, were married in 2017 and have one daughter, Ella.
