TAMUT Football Announces 68-Member Signing Class on Inaugural Signing Day
Texarkana, Texas- The Texas A&M University-Texarkana football team has finalized it's inaugural signing class and has landed an impressive number of student athletes excited about playing a foundational role in the team's development.
Joshua Eargle was named the team's first head coach in December, and he immediately set out to build a roster of talented players to make up the university's inaugural team. National Signing Day for football was February 4th, 2026, and by mid-morning Eargle and his staff had signed an impressive 68 seniors who want to play football for the Eagles.
"What an unbelievable day we had here at Texas A&M University-Texarkana," Eargle exclaimed during a brief video recap of the Signing Day success. The 68 players who inked their names to play at Texarkana come from four different states, though the majority of the student athletes come from Texas, and most of those played in East Texas. Eargle shared that 58 of the signees earned All-District honors in Texas, while nine players earned All-State honors, and three players were from teams who won Texas State Championships.
Eargle credits the successful signing class not only to athletic department and desire to play football, but also to the entire university- specifically the positive energy on campus, campus growth, and the University's world-class academic offerings. Eargle and his staff welcomed 88 players and their families to campus for official visits over the previous two weeks, and 68 of those student athletes chose A&M-Texarkana, a success rate Eargle says he has never seen at any of his previous coaching jobs.
The initial Eagle football players will arrive on campus in August of this year and will have a developmental first season. The team will then go through a typical spring practice season in 2027, culminating with a spring football game in preparation for the first competitive season, which will begin in the fall of 2027.
