Baseball Sees Trio Earn All-Conference Recognition
TEXARKANA, Texas — The Texas A&M University–Texarkana baseball program placed three student-athletes on the Red River Athletic Conference All-Conference teams. The Eagles hold a 29-23 overall record (14-13 RRAC) and entered the RRAC Championships as the No. 6 seed. After winning their series against LSUA in three games, TAMUT advanced to the final site of the RRAC Championships, where they will face No. 2 seed LSUS for a chance to move on to the next round.
Senior outfielder Jayce Blalock earned First Team All-Conference honors. A transfer from UALR, Blalock has been a consistent force for the Eagles, appearing in 45 games. He has recorded 55 hits, 38 runs, and 30 RBIs, along with 14 doubles and six home runs in 164 at-bats, good for a .335 batting average. He also boasts a .530 slugging percentage and a .435 on-base percentage. Defensively, Blalock holds a .967 fielding percentage with 61 total chances and 58 putouts, while adding 10 stolen bases.
Senior infielder James Provencio was named to the Second Team All-Conference. A steady presence in the Eagles' lineup, Provencio has appeared in 46 games this season. In 163 at-bats, he has recorded 60 hits, 44 runs, and a team-high 48 RBIs, while adding extra-base power to the offense. He is batting .368 with an impressive .511 slugging percentage and a .435 on-base percentage, consistently producing in key situations for TAMUT. Defensively, Provencio has been reliable in the infield, posting a .898 fielding percentage across his opportunities.
Rounding out the honorees, junior Michael Caputo was selected to the RRAC Champions of Character Team. This recognition honors student-athletes who exemplify the NAIA's core values of integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, and servant leadership.
