Bio
Coach Bobby Velasco enters his first season as an assistant coach on Coach Brewster’s staff at Texas A&M University–Texarkana. Velasco works directly with the Eagles’ catchers and serves as the program’s Recruiting Coordinator, where he plays a vital role in identifying and developing future talent. He also assists Coach Wagner with the pitching staff and contributes to the team’s strength and conditioning program, helping prepare the Eagles for success on the field.
Before beginning his coaching career, Velasco was a standout student-athlete. He started at Los Angeles Valley College before transferring to Texas A&M University–Texarkana, where he spent two seasons behind the plate. During his playing career, he earned First Team All–Western State Conference honors as a catcher while posting a .333 batting average with 3 home runs and 29 RBIs.
Velasco excelled in the classroom as well, graduating from Texas A&M University–Texarkana with a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and an impressive 3.9 GPA. He is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Social Work at TAMUT.
Bringing passion, discipline, and a student-first mentality to the Eagles’ coaching staff, Velasco is committed to helping his players achieve excellence both on and off the field.
