Beach Volleyball Sweeps HPU on Senior Day

TEXARKANA, Texas — Texas A&M University–Texarkana Beach Volleyball celebrated Senior Day in style on Saturday, sweeping a doubleheader against Howard Payne at the Guaranty Bank & Trust Beach Volleyball Competition Courts.

Prior to the first serve, the Eagles honored their seniors in a special ceremony, recognizing their contributions to the program before delivering a dominant performance on the sand.

TAMUT opened the day with a 4-1 victory in match one. The duo of Paulina Dobreva and Mia Mata set the tone early with a commanding 21-9, 21-9 win at the No. 1 position. Leanne Blue and Jaxie Tillman battled back after dropping the first set to secure a three-set victory, while Bella Marvin and Lauren Herz and the pair of Flor Lazo and Zoe Martinez each earned straight-set wins to clinch the match.

Howard Payne picked up its lone point at the No. 5 position, but the Eagles added an exhibition win from Haley Wells and Sinai Martinez to cap off a strong opening match.

In the second match, TAMUT left no doubt, posting a 5-0 sweep over the Yellow Jackets. Dobreva and Mata once again led the charge with a straight-set victory, while Blue and Tillman followed with a decisive win of their own.

Marvin and Herz continued their impressive day with another dominant performance, and Lazo and Martinez secured a hard-fought three-set victory to keep the momentum rolling. Wells and Martinez rounded out the sweep with a straight-set win at the No. 5 position.

The Eagles controlled the day from start to finish, showcasing depth across all flights and honoring their seniors with a perfect performance at home.
