Bio
Collegiate athletics veteran and Brown Athletics Consulting founder Chris Brown joins Texas A&M University–Texarkana’s administrative staff with extensive experience in NCAA governance and compliance at both the institutional and conference levels. While at the Mountain West Conference, he provided executive oversight of NCAA policy compliance for 13 member institutions.
Previously, Brown served as commissioner of the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA). As the 10th leader in the 136-year history of the nine-team Division III conference, he oversaw the league’s operational, financial and legal affairs, with a focus on compliance, cost control and revenue growth.
Prior to his time at the MIAA, Brown was a senior associate athletics director at the University of Delaware. He also served as a compliance consultant with the Great Northeast Athletic Conference from 2018 to 2022 and worked at the NCAA national office as an associate director of academic and membership affairs from 2014 to 2020. Brown began his career in athletics administration as an assistant director of compliance at Southeast Missouri State University.
In addition to his administrative experience, Brown has held several teaching roles, including serving as an adjunct professor at Boston College. He has also been a lecturer in sport management and Chief Diversity Officer at the University of Kansas, as well as an adjunct instructor at Spalding University and North Central College.
A native of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Brown earned his bachelor’s degree in history from Colorado State University. He later received a master’s degree in health and human performance from Austin Peay State University and a doctorate in sport management from the University of Kansas.
